You are cordially invited to submit abstracts for the Joint CIB W099 and TG59 International Safety, Health, and People in Construction Conference, which will be held in the city of Salvador in Brazil from the 1st to 3rd of August 2018. The theme of the conference that will be co-hosted by the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) is ‘Coping with the Complexity of Safety, Health, and Wellbeing in Construction’.

Construction projects are complex socio-technical systems, and thus the safety, health, and wellbeing of workers are always subject to some degree of uncertainty, and the resulting need for filling out the gaps in planning and design.

TG59 Conference Sub-Themes:

Gender issues
Health and well being

Employment and industrial relations
Integration of people and technology

Labour market and work
Multi-cultural and diversity issues

Older workers / Age-related issues

People with disabilities

Respect for people

Skills development and transfer

Stress and work in construction
Worker engagement and empowerment

The conference theme aims at encouraging attendees to appreciate the complex nature of construction across the several W099 and TG59 sub-themes.
